Langney Primary school

The academies trust and headteacher contacted us for our creative input to re-imagine the entry to their school. At present the school is limited by a lack of on site parking, and an existing reception in an unsuitable location, too far and unsighted from the entrance gate which leaves the school open to potential safeguarding issues. They also wanted to provide a striking, inspirational main entrance more in line with school’s ethos. The designs relocate the reception, admin and headteacher’s office to the front of the school, whilst fully utilising the space to create new conference facilities, tea room, toilets, delivery store and a large light filled waiting room for visitors. The original reception area, and associated outdoor space has been transformed into a dedicated SEND area. A new feature, brightly coloured, louvred wall conceals a new staff car park and leads visitors directly into the new reception. Large amounts of glazing gives the reception full view of the new visitor car park and entrance gate for security. All of this is achieved without any extension to the footprint of the existing building, but through the creative and efficient use of space and orientation.
